The TEAM

I would like to introduce to you the TMS Jet Sprinting team:

Brian Kelly of Tauranga (North Island, New Zealand) along with his wife and navigator Marie Kelly have done what no other competitor has done to date. In the 1997 competition taken out, for the first time on record, all 6 rounds of the New Zealand champs and along with the South Island championship in the LITES class in the Jetpro championships. With Brian’s skills as a first grade mechanic and engine builder, and unequalled Driving skills, has with the help of Time Management Solution’s (TMS), Tauranga Truck Painting Specialists and Tasman Wire under there Jetpro Franchise, have moved up to Group A competition.

Running 5th in the Jetpro points after 6 rounds in the 2008 season.

And also taking out 2nd in the North island Championships

With this move up to Group A, it has allowed him to now release the horsepower restrictions on his Dart V8 jet sprinting boat. Thus allowing the team to work towards the Trans Tasman and on to the World series in 2009.

BACKGROUND ON NZ JETSPRINTING

It all started in New Zealand in the mid 80’s when a group of keen Jet boaters decided to start a racing competition using an exciting elimination format. Jetsprinting quickly caught the attention of the NZ public, and before long our National Championship was established, creating the need for an organisation to coordinate and run the events, so Jetpro was formed. It was not long before Jetsprinting also caught the attention of our Australian cousins. An Australian national Jetsprinting competition was quickly established. Then the USA followed suit. Since then Jetsprinting has established a World Championship, for both Group A boats and Superboats. More often than not the world champion titles have been won by New Zealanders. And now more countries are showing a lot of interest in starting there own championships to join the RACE

The New Zealand Jetsprint Championship can boast having former and current World Champions among its competitors, our national competition could be considered the championship of champions, and it is New Zealand that set’s the standard for Jetsprinting.

The 2009 NZ Jetsprinting Championship will have six rounds providing a great opportunity for you to promote your business as part of our exciting competition. You can take advantage of the substantial television audience we will provide, along with the opportunities to promote your business to spectators World Wide.

New Zealand has won the right to host the 2009 World Jetsprint Championships in January 2009. The two round World Championship will see competitors from the USA, Australia and New Zealand compete over two consecutive weekends for the UIM sanctioned World Championship Crown.

EXCITING ELIMINATION FORMAT

Jetsprinting uses the elimination format, which has proven to provide tense and exciting competition. The initial field of competitors first have qualified, where they each have 3-4 high speed runs at the course. Once qualifying is complete, those competitors with the fastest 16 times begin the Top 16 elimination run. From there the top 8 are found, then top 4, then top 2. Each time the top group go on to the next round. Throughout elimination previous times mean nothing, if the team who have been fastest all day muck up in the eliminations, they will end their day there. The elimination format means that every run counts, the drivers must give it there all in every run, and if they over do things, they are out of the water and on the trailer.
Our TV cameras will record most of the qualifying; this often gives us thrills and spills to show our viewers. The focus of each 30-minute broadcast will be on the Top 8, Top 4 and of course the Top 2 from which a winner is found.
